Autumn 2012 was an exciting time for the Ohio Student Association. Ohio’s electorate was pivotal in the 2012 election, and it was a tremendous experience to see all of the hard work of our canvassers and volunteers translate into voters’ voices at the polls.
Youth turnout was a major factor in the election across the country and especially in Ohio. OSA partnered with organizations like Children's Defense Fund and HoodieVote to register thousands of young people and help get them out to the polls.
At the Ohio State University, Ohio University, and Kent State University, OSA students ran voter registration and Get Out the Vote campaigns while engaging students around issues like tuition, student debt, education privatization, and about how together we can build student power through the ballot.
